Outlook has never witnessed such panic buying in its 10-year history. Unidentified people in the metros and other cities came in and just swept up copies (July 3, ’06 issue) from retailers and ordered for thousands more. Retailers who normally sold 10 copies were calling up to place orders for 500 more. In fact, a magazine centre in Bangalore’s upmarket Jayanagar Shopping Complex placed an order for 10,000 copies. We initially thought the 1857 history cover had become a hit. But soon realised it was the story on Pratap Reddy of Apollo Hospitals which had caused the flutter.
