West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee today said that MP Srinjoy Bose, who quit Trinamool Congress a day after he was released on bail in connection with the Saradha scam, was being pressured to resign from the party and Parliament.
Chatterjee, who was here to attend the convocation of Burdwan University, told reporters, "It is true he is ill and there is pressure on him to resign."
Asked who was putting pressure on Bose, Chatterjee said, "Maybe pressure from BJP, maybe pressure from a news channel."
Srinjoy was arrested by the Special Crime branch of the CBI in connection with the Saradha case on November 21 last year.
Asked when the School Service Commission (SSC) examination whould be held, Chatterjee said he had written several times to HRD Minister Smriti Irani on the matter but was yet to receive a reply.
Chatterjee, who was the Chief Guest at the convocation, however, did not attend it even though he was putting up at the university guest house.
