Crime against women are a "cause for concern" and incidents like the broad daylight murder of a girl outside her college in the city are "sad and shameful", Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's wife Gursharan Kaur said today.
"Crimes against women and atrocities on women are a cause for concern. Wrong things are happening. These will have to be stopped," she told reporters on the sidelines of a function marking the international women's day.
She was asked about the killing of a 21-year-old second-year degree student who was shot dead by an unidentified person near her college in south Delhi today. Police are suspecting that a stalker was behind the incident.
"This is a sad and shameful incident. Such incidents should be condemned and whosoever have done it should be punished. I hope that man will be captured and action taken against him," Kaur said.
