Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar has congratulated former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on being chosen for the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, which she received in 2001.

Educationist Madan Mohan Malviya will receive Bharat Ratna posthumously.

"Namaskar. Today the Government of India has chosen Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya ji and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna. I am very happy to get this news as I consider these two personalities as global gems," the 85-year-old singer posted on twitter.

"I have heard many great things about Malviya ji from my father. I had the privilege to meet Vajpayee ji in person. I am dedicating a song sung by me, which was penned by him," added Mangeshkar along with a link of the song 'Geet Naya Gata Hu' from the album 'Antarnaad'.
