Suspended NCP MP Padamsinh Patil, arrested on the charge of murdering Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar, has approached a sessions court seeking bail for the second time since his arrest.

"Patil is entitled to bail as the CBI has already filed its charge sheet in the case last week and the investigations are complete," his lawyer Bhushan Mahadik told PTI.

He said there is no evidence against Patil.

The Alibaug sessions court has directed the CBI to file their reply by September 4.

The CBI had last week filed a 5,000-page charge sheet against Patil and nine other accused for allegedly hatching the conspiracy and murdering Nimbalkar and his driver Samad Kazi in June 2006 due to political and business rivalry.

The charge sheet had named Patil as the prime accused and main conspirator.

In July Patil had approached the sessions court seeking bail. The court had however rejected the plea after observing that it was a serious offence and that there was prima facie evidence against Patil.
