In the first honour after his sudden death, director Rituparno Ghosh was posthumously adjudged the best lyricist in 'Bangla Sangeet Samman 2013' award for his haunting score in new age film 'Maach Misti and More' by Moinak Bhowmik.
The multiple national award winner was honored for scripting the lines 'ami jodi bheer hoye jai' (If I become a face in the crowd) reflecting the yearn for anonymity in every individual’s life which struck him as a creative person, his ‘disciple film maker’ and Memories In March director Sanjoy Nag said while collecting the honour instituted by a prominent national channel.
National award winner Shabdo again got the ‘ETV Bangla Sangeet Samman’ for creating the most evocative soundscape in the flick by Kaushik Ganguly.
Upcoming flick Proloy director Raj Chakraborty’s popular genre road movie Bojhena se Bojhena swept the honours in three categories – best female upcoming singer (Sukanya Ghosal), best male upcoming singer (Arijit Singh) and the best upcoming music director Arindam Chakrborty and the best film album.
“Matter of great pride for Bojhena Se Bojhena,” Raj tweeted later.
‘Darling’ singer Usha Uthup was conferred the lifetime achievement award while young singing icon Anupam Roy was anointed as the best male playback singer for one Hemlock Society track. Popular young singer Somlata was declared the best playback singer (female) for a Tagore number in Dutta vs Dutta.
Band Lakhichara, spearheaded by Gourab Chattopadhyay, son of late Goutam Chattopadhyay of ‘Mohiner Ghoraguli’ fame, was given the ‘Best Band album’ award for the track 'Kemon Achho Shohor' while musician Indradeep Dasgupta got the best music director award for Parambrata-Raima starrer Hawa Bodol, a film on dual identities.
A spokesman of Viacom 18 INS said the award was the new initiative by the group towards promoting arts in Bengal where the jury members initially shortlisted top five nominations across categories for audience voting and the public nominated one from each category.
The jury panel comprised internationally known table artiste Pt Subhankar Banerjee, besides popular members from Bengal’s music fraternity.
