An AIADMK leader today filed a defamation complaint against actor-turned-politician Khushboo for 'defaming' him and allegedly blaming people of Tamil Nadu for DMK's defeat in the assembly elections.
The complainant, Va Pugazhendi, AIADMK's Karnataka State secretary, said he had campaigned for the party and he had been "humiliated" and "defamed" by her remarks in an interview to a daily on May 15 that the people of Tamil Nadu had "lost" and that they were going to "suffer for next five years".
Her statement that "the loss is not for DMK but for the people of Tamil Nadu alone", had affected his reputation among people of other states.
Pugazhendi contended that the statement was an "act of irresponsibility and against larger public mandate and truthful assertion and was per se defamatory, made with an intention to defame" him and AIADMK cadres and also people of Tamil Nadu.
He sought a direction from the court to punish the actor under IPC section 500 for defaming him.
The complaint was filed before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore.
