Chowdhury's outburst came in response to Hegde's remark wherein he had said that Gandhi's freedom movement was "staged with the consent and support of the British".
While addressing a public event in Bengaluru on Saturday, the Lok Sabha MP said the entire freedom movement was "staged with the consent and support of the British".
The BJP lawmaker claimed Devendra Fadnavis was made Maharashtra CM last month despite lacking majority to "protect" Rs 40,000-crore central funds.
The MP said development funds were 'protected' and given back to the Centre before the Sena-led coalition came to power.

Hegde had allegedly assaulted doctors at a private hospital in Sirsi in January, accusing them of not giving proper treatment to his mother.
