The Congress' sharp attack came over Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar's remarks at an event on Friday in which, while talking about the agri laws, he said the government moved a "step back" and "will move forward again".

Accused by the opposition of not allowing a discussion on the bill to repeal three contentious farm reform laws, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Monday that there was unanimity on the issue as both the government and opposition parties wanted to nullify the legislations.
Parliament passed a bill to repeal the three agri laws, which had triggered an agitation by farmer unions, on the first day of the Winter Session on Monday with Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha approving it without any debate within minutes of taking it up amid protests by opposition members who were demanding a discussion.
Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha passed The Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021.
The Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021 will be introduced on the first day of the Parliament Winter Session on Monday. PM Narendra Modi had announced that the contentious farm laws will be repealed.
To repeal the three contentious farm laws, the government on Monday will introduce in Lok Sabha a new bill, which states that though "only a small group of farmers are protesting" against these legislations, the need of the hour is to take along everyone for inclusive growth.
The two-day meeting of the BJP's state unit begins here from Wednesday where one-to-one interaction with party MLAs will be held to discuss the feedback on the Centre and state's schemes. The meeting will be chaired by the national joint general secretary (organisation) Shiv Prakash and the state in-charge Murlidhar Rao. The state BJP president V.D. Sharma will also be present in the meeting.
"Farmers are being supported in various ways. They are being encouraged to produce cash crops and profitable fruits and crops so that their economic position improves to a large extent. The government's investments for the farmers have been reflected visibly," Tomar said.
'I will hold consultations with Gujarat leaders, then the central leadership will take a decision,' said Prahlad Joshi. BJP general secretary Tarun Chaag has also reached Ahmedabad.
Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra SinghTomar said that numerous schemes have been implemented for farmers and growers welfare throughout the country and there is visible change on the ground also.
The flight operations were stopped in March last year, following COVID-19 wave.
The minister said instead of protesting in Parliament against the farm laws, the opposition should have listened if they cared for farmers.
'I want to tell through you (media) that farmers should leave the path of protest and come for dialogue. We are ready for talks if they come with issues in the bills,' Narendra Singh Tomar said
Narendra Singh Tomar said that since the Centre has no record of farmers having died during the agitation, there is no proposal for compensation to such families.
