Modi is facing probe by two central agencies here in India for bank fraud to the tune of over Rs 13,500 crore.
The total assets attached by the ED are worth Rs 18,170.02 crore.
Choksi, wanted in Rs 13,500 crore bank fraud case in India, had mysteriously gone missing on May 23 from Antigua and Barbuda where he has been staying since 2018 as a citizen.
However, his lawyer said Choksi would continue to remain in hospital as his medical condition ‘deteriorated’.
Choksi allegedly made his employees directors of the firms based in Hong Kong, and was controlling them.
The PNB officials at the bank's Brady House branch in Mumbai issued 165 letters of undertaking (LoUs) and 58 foreign letters of credit (FLCs) during March-April 2017, against which 311 bills were discounted.
Mehul Choksi was living in Antigua and Barbuda since 2018, after he escaped from India in the first week of January that year, weeks before the scam was reported.
