The Worthwhile Comment Journos on the Congress beat are a worried lot these days. It seems there’s word out that some of the current party spokespersons may be elevated to ministers. Always on the lookout for good quotes, there’s some trepidation that lines like those delivered by Manish Tewari may dry up in the new dispensation. In fact, a reporter at the AICC headquarters was heard lamenting, “There’s only Manish who talks sensibly; Renuka’s conferences are like those laughter shows on TV and Rashid Alvi saab’s are like mushairas.” New recruit to the blab fest, P.C. Chacko, has so far been a tad unimpressive. So if Manish becomes a minister and, heaven help us, some of the others join him, who will do the briefings? To which query another hack replied dejectedly, “(Abhishek Manu) Singhviji can always come back, now that his CD episode is a fading memory.”
