As the captains lined up like toy figures, Shahrukh gave a speech. The Hockey World Cup opening ceremony in Bhubaneswar could have done without SRK’s childhood connect with the sport, or a tired ‘sattar minute’ dialogue from Chak De India, though most would agree that hockey players are the ‘fiercest artistes’. The ceremony was noted for A.R. Rahman and a replay of his old songs, splendid fireworks and colourful costumes. And yes, Madhuri Dixit. A vision, as always.
