The bystanders, including reportedly a cop, remained just that: bystanders. They did not come to the man's rescue and the young woman fought off the assailants.

Bush's father) shaved his head this week to show solidarity with Patrick, the son of a member of his security detail who's battling cancer. His spokesman Jim McGrath tweeted pictures of the former president with Patrick. Patrick, 2, lost his hair during treatment for leukemia. Bush, along with members of his Secret Service detail, showed their support by shaving their heads.

A US Sikh student's dignified response to a tasteless post making fun of her facial hair has earned her a legion of fans. A man took a photo of Balpreet Kaur and uploaded onto Reddit in the 'funny' category with the tagline 'im (sic) not sure what to conclude from this'. The aspiring neurosurgeon discovered the picture and instead of flying into a rage at the person behind the cheap dig, she posted a comment explaining why she didn't remove her hair: "I'm not embarrassed or even humiliated by the attention [negative and positive] that this picture is getting because, it's who I am. Yes, I'm a baptised Sikh woman with facial hair. Yes, I realise that my gender is often confused and I look different than most women."

As the toll of the May 28 train tragedy mounted, there was one reason to smile. A two year old child, who was found crying beneath the wreckage of coach 53, was finally reunited with his mother. This inconsolably crying child, labelled Unknown in a hospital, caught the attention of some journalists who flashed his photograph in newspapers and on TV. And it worked. His uncle and grandfather rushed to Midnapore. He has been identified as Shaukat Ali, age two. His father Mohammed Haider died in the crash. His mother, badly injured, had been moved to another hospital.
