B.S. Yediyurappa vs the BJP
Once Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde submitted his wordy reports on illegal mining in Karnataka, it was a matter of time before chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa was asked to resign by the BJP’s central leadership. But he didn’t go without kicking, screaming, sulking, issuing dark hints of mutiny, evading arrest, courting arrest, getting bail, and generally proving a right royal headache for his party. For his efforts, he didn’t even find his condition for surrender—state presidentship of the party—being met. Redemption might yet come tangentially: three former CMs are now named in the mining scam!
