The resignation of state Labour Minister Maurya has come as a jolt to the ruling BJP in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.
The party is likely to announce its first list of candidates in the next few days, the sources said.
Maurya is widely expected to join the Samajwadi Party but has not made a formal declaration. The SP, however, welcomed him to their fold, even sharing a picture that showed him with party president Akhilesh Yadav.
RPSG Group and private investment firm CVC had successfully bid for the Lucknow and Ahmedabad IPL franchises respectively last October. However, the LOI got delayed after it emerged that CVC had links with betting companies outside India.
Rajbhar's party has forged an alliance with the SP for the state assembly polls slated to begin from February 10.
Claiming her party to be a "disciplined" one, she sought to assure that it will strictly adhere to the model code of conduct for which the party cadre too will be instructed separately.
District Magistrate of Lucknow Abhishek Prakash said as per the directives of the Election Commission of India, the model code of conduct has been implemented, and it will be strictly adhered to.
On being pointed out that the EC has banned the holding of physical rallies or other modes of the physical campaign till January 15 at least, he said the party would abide by the EC decisions effective till January 15 and also the ones that would be taken after it.
Alleging that opposition parties were spreading lies that by linking Aadhaar and voter ID it would become known to whom the voter is going to cast his vote, Rijiju said the people should not be taken as stupid for they know well who is spreading lies and who is telling the truth.
Party sources said apart from the infection scare, the decision also took into account the recent stampede-like situation in Bareilly where the party-organised marathon, as part of its election campaign, had left three girls injured.
"The Akhilesh Yadav government had promised to give laptops to youths. For this, 15 lakh laptops were purchased but only 6.25 lakh were distributed," he said
Former UP chief minister Yadav made the claim, albeit in a lighter vein, during a function held for the induction of BJP’s Bahraich MLA Madhuri Verma into his party.
He said eight Omicron cases have so far been reported in Uttar Pradesh and of the patients, three have recovered and the others are in home isolation.

The CEC also asked the state to step up coronavirus vaccination. The number of polling booths will be increased and the voting time enhanced by an hour, he said, adding polling officials will be vaccinated and those eligible will be given a booster dose.
