Party sources said apart from the infection scare, the decision also took into account the recent stampede-like situation in Bareilly where the party-organised marathon, as part of its election campaign, had left three girls injured.
"The Akhilesh Yadav government had promised to give laptops to youths. For this, 15 lakh laptops were purchased but only 6.25 lakh were distributed," he said
Former UP chief minister Yadav made the claim, albeit in a lighter vein, during a function held for the induction of BJP’s Bahraich MLA Madhuri Verma into his party.
