An unprecedented 12 sportspersons were presented with India's highest sporting honour, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna.
Manpreet Singh was originally recommended for the Arjuna award but he joined veteran goalkeeper P R Sreejesh as the second hockey player in the list of awardees for the highest sporting honour.
PR Sreejesh, Mithali Raj, Pramod Bhagat, Sumit Antil, Avani Lekhara, Krishna Nagar and M Narwal were also recommended for the Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna by the selection committee.
