"The Press Club of India strongly condemns the detention and harassment of two Delhi-based women reporters, Samriddhi Sakunia and Swarna Jha by Tripura state police under charges of spreading communal hatred. The reporters were booked for creating hatred between communities for fabricating, concealing truth," the journalist's body said in a statement.
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had said a probe would be carried out to ascertain whether the Pakistani journalist has links with Pakistan's ISI.
According to the European Commission, 908 journalists and media workers were attacked across the 27-nation bloc in 2020. A total of 23 journalists have been killed in the EU since 1992, with the majority of the killings taking place over the past six years.
