The US Tsunami Warning Center issued warnings of possible tsunami waves ranging from 0.3 to 1 meters (1 to 3.3 feet) for Vanuatu and Fiji.

Greek public television said the quake also caused a mini-tsunami on the eastern Aegean Sea island of Samos, damaging buildings.
The quake was felt widely in communities along the southern coast, including Sand Point, Chignik, Unalaska and the Kenai Peninsula, according to the Alaska Earthquake Centre.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 7.8 magnitude quake struck Tuesday and had a depth of 6 miles south-southeast of Perryville, Alaska.
The quake hit at a depth of 208 kilometres south of Ambon island in the Banda Sea at 11:53 local time.
There were no reports of any casualties, injuries or damage to property.
