An 18-month-old girl was allegedly raped by her father's friend cum colleague who was babysitting her in the absence of her parents in south Delhi, the police said.

According to reports, the baby's parents left the child with the accused when they went out to their respective workplaces. 

The incident happened in Shahpur Jat area on Sunday evening.

According to the agency reports, the accused sexually assaulted the toddler when he came to her house to play with her.

The reports also added that, when the baby’s mother returned in the evening from her work, she found the child crying and bleeding from the private parts. She took the child to a nearby hospital where it was found that she had been sexually assaulted.

Subsequently, the accused was identified and arrested, the police said.
