Gayatri Prajapti, the tainted Samajwadi Party leader who was arrested after absconding for 17 days over charges of gang raping a woman and her daughter, has found himself in news again. This time for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a person, promising him a job in the government.
A report by Times Now said that an FIR has been registered against the former minister for accepting a bribe of Rs 6 Lakh, as alleged by the complainant.
Gayatri Prajapati is currently in jail, after the UP Police finally caught him after 17 days of futile search.
The SP leader who had lost his Amethi seat to BJP in the recently concluded Assembly Elections was accused of gang raping a woman and her minor daughter in 2014 and the Uttar Pradesh police had filed non-bailable warrant against the ex-minister and six others for the same on Febuary 18, this year.
The FIR was lodged under various sections of the IPC and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at Gautampalli police station.
