  • The T-Cruise is available in two transmission options - 2-speed and 5-speed.
  • It is offered in four power options - 11kW, 27kW, 34kW and 44kW.
  • The 18kWh battery has a claimed range of 220km.

The thing with electric vehicles is that all you have to do is twist the throttle and experience instant acceleration from the word go as there’s no transmission. However, Italy-based Tacita motorcycles is planning to change that by introducing the T-Cruise, which comes equipped with a manual gearbox!

Tacita is offering two transmission options for now - a 2-speed and a 5-speed. The manufacturer is also planning to introduce a single-speed gearbox for novice riders. But, why does the T-Cruise get a gearbox? Electric bikes have a wide powerband on offer with the entire torque available from 0rpm. The additional gearing helps the motor spin faster resulting in quicker acceleration. However, the downside is that there’s a different technology on board compared to what you see on standard EVs, resulting in an increment in price. The T-Cruise starts at $13,100 (around Rs 9.26 lakh) and goes all the way up to $21,100 (around Rs 14.91 lakh).

The T-Cruise is available in four power options - 11kW, 27kW, 34kW and 44kW and two battery options - 9 kWh and 18 kWh. The Italian manufacturer claims that the 9kWh battery pack offers a range of 112 km, whereas the 18kWh is rated at 220km.

Now, for the main question: Will it ever come to our shores? Not really. The electric bike segment in India is still in its infancy with manufacturers are focusing on affordable and feature-rich two-wheelers for now.
