Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf was expected to go for major reshuffle of the cabinet soon after his return from the forthcoming Indo-Pak summit.

Since Musharraf has postponed is decision to appoint a Prime Minister, the Pakistan media speculated that he would go for a major reshuffle soon after his return from India on July 16.

Foreign Minister, Abdul Sattar, Finance Minister Shoukat Aziz, Interior Minister, Lt Gen. (rtd) Moinuddin Haider and Commerce Minsiter Razak Dawood were expected to retain their posts and rest, who were hand picked by Musharraf when he took over power in October 1999, could either be removed or given additional responsibilities.

Shoukat Aziz, who was former Vice President of Citi Bank, and enjoyed close rapport with the IMF and World Bank, continued to be the front runner for Prime Minister's Post, media reports said.

Pakistan daily 'The News', quoting sources, said some new faces were expected to be inducted in the cabinet.

It said the military government has already obtained the required approval for reshuffle in the federal cabinet from the corps commanders meeting held recently. The government is planning to induct more ministers in the federal cabinet from Sindh province in particular to avoid criticism that the province got a raw deal, the paper added.
