Janata Dal (United) leader and a strident critic of CAA-NPR-NRC scheme, Prashant Kishor, on Wednesday took on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and said that being dismissive of citizens' dissent "could not be the sign of strength of any government".

The comment was in reference to Shah's remark on Tuesday when he had said that the BJP-led central government will not withdraw Citizenship Amendment Act even if the protests against the legislation continue.

Addressing a gathering Lucknow, Shah had said: "Protest as much as you want, but CAA will not be withdrawn."

Taking to Twitter, Kishor wrote": "Being dismissive of citizens’ dissent couldn’t be the sign of strength of any Govt."

The JD(U) leader further said if the Home Minister did not care for those protesting, it should go ahead with the implementation of the CAA and NRC "in the chronology that you so audaciously announced to the nation!"

Shah has been quoted several times in the past saying that the CAA and NRC will be implemented in a chronological order.

"@amitshah Ji, if you don’t care for those protesting against #CAA_NRC, why don’t you go ahead and try implementing the CAA & NRC in the chronology that you so audaciously announced to the nation!"
