United States President Donald Trump, who will embark on a two-day visit to India next week, will take part in "Namaste Trump", an event similar to Houston's "Howdy, Modi!", Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on Wednesday.

Shringla said Trump will be accompanied by a high-level delegation on his visit, adding the POTUS will hold extensive talks on February 25 on a range of issues, including defence and trade. "Some defence deals may fructify during Donald Trump's visit," he said.

Shringla said the two countries have an "unprecedented level of convergence."

"PM Modi will host a lunch for Trump, while President Kovind will host a banquet," he said.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing in Gujarat's Ahmedabad, where Trump is expected to arrive on February 24 to inaugurate the world's largest cricket stadium and spend three hours in the city.

The US President is slated to address a mammoth crowd of more than 100,000 people which is expected to turn up for an event at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The expenditure on the preparation for Trump's visit is equivalent to about 1.5% of the annual budget of Gujarat, news agency Reuters reported.

The report further said that security-related costs account for half of the expenditure. For the high-profile visit, more than 12,000 police officers will be deployed in the city.
