A document, parts of which were being tweeted by official handles of Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, the BJP's Assam Pradesh's unit, and hordes of BJP sympathisers, was mischievously edited by someone to make the text disapproving of the Narendra Modi government, instead of its intended purpose of praising the same.
How do you get a Union Minister to tweet what you want? Well, you go and edit the trending document made by BJP IT cell, and then you control what they tweet. Thread.
Here's the video of this morning when their trending document got automagically updated :-)February 13, 2019
What followed on Twitter was a deluge of anti-Modi and anti-government tweets being pushed by sympathisers of the BJP, apparently even without realising that they were criticizing the government, even as the tweets were published with #Modi4NewIndia.
For example, "PM Modi took care of the needs of marginalized", after editing became, "PM Modi took care of the needs of richest", and "Modi govt embarked towards entering the club of USD 5 trillion economies," was edited to "Modi govt embarked towards entering the club of USD 0.5 trillion economies."
You can get all IT cell coolies to tweet that Modi govt has destroyed all villages in India. Or that Modi Govt has made women a slave of "धà¥ÂÂÂÂÂÂà¤ÂÂÂÂÂÂà¤ÂÂÂÂÂÂ"/cooking"

The hilarity did not end there, and among many such texts being tweeted under #Modi4NewIndia, was BJP Assam Pradesh's tweet, that read "#Modi4NewIndia Dishonesty & lack of transparency is the hallmark of a new India under Modi govt."
Yes, this also happened ;-)

The mischief and the faux pas of the BJP was first brought to notice in a Twitter thread by Pratik Sinha, who runs fact-checking website AltNews.
Subsequently, many of the tweets were deleted, including those by Radhakrishanan as well as those of the Assam Pradesh handle.
For eg, in the past, @PonnaarrBJP tweeted that bringing 'down' approval time "600 to 1800" is an improvement. No one noticed this. Because they didn't know that they were tweeting from an edited document even back then.February 13, 2019
However, Sinha also used the incident to make a point that "a non government entity sitting in BJP's office is controlling what a Union Minister is tweeting," referring to Radhakrishnan's tweets.
