After rain marred the first day of the ongoing fourth Ashes Test, Usman Khawaja lit the second day at the SCG with his ninth Test hundred. Although there were a couple of rain interruptions in the morning session today, Khawaja ensured the hosts to be on top as they have done in the series so far. After a wicketless opening session, England roared back into the game with three quick wickets. Khawaja, who is playing his first game in the series replacing Travis Head, took his time initially. The left-hander got a reprieve when on 28 and made most use of the opportunity even wickets fell at the other end. His 67-run stand for the eighth wicket with Mitchell Starc was crucial as he went on to notch up his ninth Test hundred. Australia's lower order also chipped helping the hosts past the 400-run mark. In reply, England cpuld have lost Zak Crawley had Starc not overstepped. England are 13/0 at the end Get Day 2 highlights of the fourth Test between AUS vs ENG.

13:05 PM IST: Day 2 Stumps 

England finish the day at 13/0. The scoreline could have been different had Mitchell Starc not overstepped when Zak Crawley edged to David Warner at the slip. England are still 403 runs behind.  

12:51 PM IST: ENG start

Haseeb Hameed and Zak Crawley have come out to bat for England. Pat Cummins opened the attack for Australia. England 10/0 

12:34 PM IST: AUS declare 

Australia have declared their innings at 416 for 8. Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon remained unbeaten of 34 and 16 respectively.  

12:23 PM IST: Khawaja departs, Broad gets 5

Usman Khawaja's long stay at the crease finally ended, clean bowled by Stuart Broad. The England pacer also completed his five-wicket haul. This is his 19th in Tests and sixth against Australia. Khawaja goes for 137. Australia 398/8

11:48 AM IST: Khawaja magic 

Usman Khawaja is playing an innings of his lifetime.  Khawaja is batting on 132. Mitchell Starc is giving him company with an unbeaten 23. Australia 384/7

10:40 AM IST: Khawaja ton

Century for Usman Khawaja. It is his ninth Test hundred. Australia 329/6

9:54  AM IST: AUS 6 down

Joe Root gives England sixth wicket. The captain dismisses Alex Carey for 13. Usman Khawaja inches closer to another Test ton. Playing his first game in the series, the left-hander is batting on 85. Australia 289/6  

8:28 AM IST: England hit back

England bounce back with two quick wickets and it's Stuart Broad in both times. Broad, first dismisses Steve Smith (67), caught by Jos Buttler behind the stumps. Four overs later, Broad gets the outside edge of Cameron Green at the third slip. 

8:00 AM IST: Century stand

Steve Smith punches Joe Root for a single to bring up the century stand along with Usman Khawaja. Smith (58*) and Khawaja (44*) are in the middle. Australia 221/3

7:43 AM IST: Update

Ben Stokes added more woes to England as he had to leave the field after hurting his left side. In the fourth over of his spell, Stokes clutched to his left side and walked off to his room in pain. Mark Wood finished the over. In a statement, ECB said, "Currently being treated for left side tightness. Will be assessed over the course of the next hour."

7:10 AM IST: AUS dominate

The morning session belonged to Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja despite several interruptions due to rain. While Smith completed his 33rd Test fifty, Khawaja, playing his first match in the series looked solid in his unbeaten 39. England bowlers once again looked toothless. Australia 209/3 at lunch.
