A resolute opening stand from Rohit Sharma (20 off 56) and KL Rahul (22 off 41) fended off 16 testing overs as India reduced the deficit to 56 runs at the close of play on Day 2 of the fourth Test match against England. India were 43/0, still trailing England by 56 runs, at stumps at the Oval, London on Friday. Earlier in the day, England took a sizeable 99-run first innings lead after scoring 290 in reply to India's 191. Ollie Pope top-scored with 81 off 159 balls while Chris Woakes hit a quickfire 50 to bolster the England total. For India, Umesh Yadav finished with 3 for 76 while Jasprit Bumrah took 2 for 67. Ravindra Jadeja also got a couple of wickets while Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj finished with a wicket apiece.
