Kolkata Knight Riders have defeated Delhi Capitals by 59 runs to keep their hopes of making it to playoffs alive. Varun Chakravarthy has been named Man of the Match for his five-wicket haul. Delhi Capitals started well reducing Kolkata to 42 for 3 in 7.2 overs before Sunil Narine and Nitish Rana quick fire knocks took the game away from Delhi Capitals. While KKR have managed to give themselves some cushion in their race to be in the final four, DC it looks like will have to re-plan and see where did they go wrong. Chakravarthy simply blew away Capitals with a five-wicket haul.
"This is surreal. The last few games I didn't get wickets. I wanted to get one or two today, but thank god I got five. I enjoyed Shreyas Iyer's wicket the most. I was bowling to the shorter boundary so I had to attack the stumps," Chakravarthy said after the match. While DC remain on 14 and second spot, KKR have managed to open up a gap of four points and are now on 12 points with six wins.
Kolkata Knight Riders: 194 for 6 in 20 overs (Nitish Rana 81, Sunil Narine 64; Anrich Nortje 2/27).
Delhi Capitals: 135 for 9 in 20 overs (Shreyas Iyer 47; Varun Chakravarthy 5/20, Pat Cummins 3/17). (HIGHLIGHTS | POINTS TABLE | FIXTURES)
