Sri Lanka captain and opener Dimuth Karunaratne played a defiant, unbeaten knock of 211 balls to score 85 runs on Day 3 of the first Test against visiting Bangladesh to keep the hosts' chances of saving the match alive in Pallekele. Bangladesh finally declared their innings after batting 173 overs with Mushfiqur Rahim unbeaten on 68. Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne stitched an opening stand of 114 runs, then Sri Lanka lost three wickets adding another 115 runs as Bangladesh enjoyed a dominant Day 3 in the high scoring Test match.
