In July this year, the government had announced 16 per cent reservation for the Marathas in 72,000 government jobs, which was later stayed following protests.
The politically influential Maratha community, constituting around 30 per cent of the state's population, has been agitating to press its demand for reservation in jobs and education.
His family members said they will not take possession of the body till the state government takes a final decision on the issue of reservation, over which the Maratha community has been agitating.
"Our demand is to convene a special assembly session on Maratha Reservation issue. Our MLAs will meet the Chief Minister at 4.00 pm today," Thackeray said in a press conference here.
