The entire power infrastructure in Puri district has been devastated in the cyclone which damaged 75 towers of 220 KV and 25 towers of 132 KV.

Cyclone Fani has left a trail of destruction ripping apart all the major infrastructure in over 11 coastal districts affecting more than 1.5 crore people.

Repairs and rehabilitation work after Cyclone Fani need to be done quickly owing to the upcoming monsoon season. After the initial relief announced by the government, the rehabilitation should be done within six months to one year.

The damage to the electrical infrastructure has been extensive, with around 3.5 million households in the affected areas still plunged in darkness with no power.

The cyclone, worst April storm in 43 years, caused 'huge damage' in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Khordha districts in the state, according to the Odisha government.
